Trieste is a city in which traces of many cultures; unless there are more Italian and German, Austrian, Slovenian, Croatian, Serbian ... Since the traces of Serbian culture remained quite neglected, the book Professor Mitrovic has a twofold purpose: on the one hand to gather and summarize the significant works of Serbian culture in Trieste incurred in Italian, on the other hand should provide contemporary picture of the Serbian diaspora in this city.

The reader will find in the book of everything significant that in Trieste culture so far recorded: on the Serbian church, cemetery, school, choir, economy, buildings. Especially for this book are written texts about the economic contribution of Trieste "old" Serbian Diaspora (Marko Dogo) and architecturally significant homes that are built in Trieste, by order of wealthy Serbian merchants (Mariangela Albaneze).

From the pre-existing Italian study book brings two texts known art historian Mariza Blank Fjorini dealing with the importance of the Serbian church in the city of Trieste and a description of Serbian cemeteries. In this context, the study raises the question of today's diaspora who neither knows traces of Serbian culture in the city in which he lives mostly as a complete stranger, nor always aware of what Region and the city of Trieste make to enable their integration, which also has a say in the book.
