This release was created by merging two separate synthesis Histoire de Byzance Jean-Claude Sene and La civilization byzantine Bernard Flize originally published in well-known French edition of "What do I know?" (Que sais-je?). Transformed into a new whole, with selected additives, these texts offer a different and more dynamic view of the Byzantine world of that which might be found in a wide range of existing production. These differences, all of it is reflected in the approach to the basic themes of the book - the history and civilization - which is based on excerpts from selected sources.
