Thornfree je samo oplodna sorta, izrazito otporna i ne zahtjevna. Može se saditi na svim položajima te zahtjeva posebna tla. Iako se uvijek preporučaju dobro osunčani položaji. Plodovi su bogati antioksidansima. Osim konzumacije u svježem obliku, plodovi se mogu koristiti za preradu. Idelno za džemove, pekmeze, vina, likere.
