Higher education in the country are free for Bulgarian students since 2007. and the only costs are for accommodation and subsistence. Aalborg University is significantly different from the older and more traditional institutions in Denmark and with a variety of non-traditional programs in the humanities, social, natural and engineering sciences. Educational approach used is based on the interdisciplinary study of major courses combined with subsequent specialization - teaching technique based on problem-focused and realistic projects of education and research nature. This type of training is known as the "Aalborg model" and enjoys international recognition.
